HYNAGOGIA Journey through Abstraction

You are invited to an opening night, on the 9th December 2008 – at 6:00 p.m., to view new & unseen Artworks by ESTELLE AMODELLE. Exhibition: 9th – 14th December 2008.

Everybody lives in a world filled with familiar shapes and forms. Our day to day experiences present images and sounds of places, people and things which are instantly recognisable to all of us. This is the world of our waking moments. However, there is a moment when the imagery we see and the auditory information we hear becomes blurred and abstract: it is those precious moments when we are either waking up or falling asleep. This Hypnagogic state presents us, however briefly, with an alternative perception of the world we find ourselves in. This exhibition presents the observer with a chance to experience Hypnagogia, suspended in time, and allows us to look into the mirror of our perception and see what lies beneath our psyche.

OPENING NIGHT PART WAS A BIG HIT!

ARTEMIS OF ABERDEEN

The opening night party went very well and everyone seemed to love the art – it was an experience and seeing so many people attend was also great as well. The show stays in Aberdeen till the 7th November and then it is moved back to the Central Coast and joined with other works which then go to Gig Gallery in Sydney for the new show on the 9th December.

Below is a press release about the show:

MEDIA RELEASE:

Solo Exhibition of Estelle Asmodelle

The Show is at Artemis of Aberdeen – Starting from the 8
th Nov – 7th Dec

Opening night: 8th November 2008.

Artemis of Aberdeen, at 93 MacQueen St (New England Highway), Aberdeen, will host a very special Art Show by an established Australian artist: Estelle Asmodelle. The show is entitled: AN ECLETIC REVIEW (A review of abstract and impressionist paintings) Estelle started painting as age 3, the eldest daughter of an artist, Sylvia Croot, and continued to paint while studying towards her degree. In 1988, while living in Japan, she began exhibiting in several Tokyo subway stations, “It seems like a really positive way to reach people, as so many people in Japan use the subway, its total different to Australia in that way. It wasn’t actually allowed – but everyone loved the work so much that even the Subway employees allowed the exhibitions.” Estelle says. It was a big success and many people bought the original artworks by this Australian artist.

A year later, Estelle was invited to exhibition in the International Friendship Exhibition by UNESCO. It was a big contrast, and The Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum allowed Estelle to take her Artworks to new and greater heights. Since that time Estelle has participated in literally hundreds of art exhibitions, and this month also exhibited work at the Los Angeles Center For Digital Art.

“I like to reach real people in different ways,” Estelle claims, with her first solo show in regional NSW, at Aberdeen. “Estelles work is colourful, and optimistic, sometimes abstract, sometimes impressionistic but always unique and beautiful,” Affirms Justice Howard, a well known American photographer, who sought to photograph Estelle on many occasions. For residents in the area “ this is a must see event. Situated in Aberdeen, and all are welcome to the opening night and as well to view the work during the 1 month period that the show runs.

The pieces I’ve entered are these:

Alien Stasis Solution as an Angel  Quantum Cycle of Life  Visitation

Stanthorpe Art Prize 2008 – submissions by Asmodelle

Two new paintings we done in the past two weeks for the Stanthorpe Art Prize 2008.

The first is entitled: ‘An idea becomes and angel’ – It is a comment about global warming, while the solution to the problem is clearly a technological idea: a revolutionary idea that rescues the planet, and in a metaphoric sense defines a new paradigm of an ancient form, namely, an Angel.

The second piece is entitled: ‘Eden lost’ – In contract, this piece is also a comment on the planet, as a runaway green house, which has lost the purity of a once and distance paradise.
